wi-tribe selects Airspan for its Nationwide WiMAX deployment in Jordan

Airspan Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: AIRN), a leading worldwide provider of WiMAX and Wi-Fi based broadband wireless access networks, announced today that it has been awarded a contract to supply wi-tribe limited - Jordan, a subsidiary of wi-tribe limited, with its HiperMAX base stations and its EasyST indoor and ProST outdoor subscriber terminals.

wi-tribe limited is a joint venture between Qatar Telecom (Qtel) Q.S.C and A.A. Turki Corporation for Trading and Contracting (ATCO) of Saudi Arabia.
At the beginning of 2007, wi-tribe Jordan secured a 3.6 GHz frequency license for Fixed Broadband Wireless Access (FBWA) in Jordan. The company is now in the process of deploying a nationwide WiMAX service.

wi-tribe Jordan will use Airspan’s WiMAX technology to launch its voice, data, and high speed internet service. Airspan’s WiMAX solution will enable wi-tribe Jordan to offer a bundle of voice and data services, with the possibility of upgrading to mobile WiMAX from the same platform.
