Sohail has held several senior roles in major telecommunications companies across the world.

Recently he served as Group Strategy Director at Telefonica S.A and sat on the company’s Operating Committee. Sohail was responsible for groupwide corporate strategy, business development and innovation, and has also been on the Telco Board in Italy where he oversaw the relationship and shareholding of Telecom Italia.

Prior to joining Telefonica S.A., Sohail was one of the founding members of O2 PLC and was on the company’s Executive Committee and PLC Board. Sohail played a key role in the transformation of O2, the development of the O2 brand, the review of its inorganic options and managed the alignment program with Telefónica. He has also sat on the Boards of various mobile companies during his tenure as Group Mobility Director at BT plc., leading the acquisition of equity stakes and telecoms licenses in Europe, Americas, and Asia.

He has also taken on several advisory roles for VC/PE firms at board levels covering topics such as value creation, market and product development and corporate development. Sohail has been involved with setting a distinct strategy in the convergence space and creating competitive advantage in technology companies and has advised companies in the area of intersection of the internet with the communications value chain.
